Ruhr University Bochum achieves excellent results in THE-Impact-Ranking – second place in Germany in the category “Quality Education”.

Ruhr University Bochum has achieved a remarkable accomplishment in the renowned international THE-Impact-Ranking, assessing universities worldwide based on their contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As Prof. Dr. Kornelia Freitag, Vice-Rector for Teaching and Studies, says: “This success testifies to the high quality of teaching at the Ruhr University, which was recently also reflected in our positive performance in the national CHE ranking. It shows that the efforts to improve the quality of teaching at the Ruhr University are increasingly being recognised externally, and the great commitment of our teaching staff and our administration is receiving well-deserved recognition.”

At a time when many universities are struggling with falling student numbers, the Ruhr University shows that this does not have to be an obstacle to improving the quality of teaching. Quite the opposite: the university has traditionally focussed on cooperation with practice and industry partners, on practical and application-oriented courses, and has made a name for itself as a top start-up university in recent years. All of this ensures excellent employability prospects.

The Ruhr University is also among the top 100 of over 1,600 universities worldwide in the field of “Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure”. German universities generally perform strongly here; the Ruhr University makes a significant contribution to this international success and is able to utilise its close networking with regional industry to good effect.
