Visit of Prof. Marceline Bonvalot, French Co-Director of J-FAST
From December 11 to 18, 2024, Prof. Marceline Bonvalot, a researcher at the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), faculty member at Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA), and visiting associate professor at the University of Tsukuba (UT), visited UT.
During her stay, Prof. Bonvalot conducted a graduate-level lecture series titled “Special Lectures on Electronic Physics and Engineering IV.” As the French Co-Director of the Japanese-French Laboratory for Semiconductor Physics and Technology (J-FAST), she engaged in discussions regarding the MEXT Inter-University Exchange Project and collaborated on research with Professors Kuroda Shinji, the Japanese Co-Director of J-FAST, and Akimoto Katsuhiro, both from UT’s Institute of Pure and Applied Sciences. She also mentored UGA dual-degree program (DDP) students currently studying at UT, demonstrating her commitment to training the next generation of researchers.
On December 12, the J-FAST Lab “French Office” at UT served as the venue for the meeting attended by Professors Bonvalot, Kuroda, Akimoto, Kaigo, and Jacek Kasprzak, and two visiting faculty members from UGA’s Faculty of Humanities, Health, Sport, and Society (H3S), Professors Kevin Sutton and Florian Barrière. The UGA professors were in Japan accompanying students participating in the 1st Thematic School on Gender Studies. The group discussed opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, exploring connections between semiconductor technology and the humanities and social sciences.
Prof. Bonvalot’s visit strengthened ties between J-FAST and its partners while fostering innovative cross-disciplinary exchanges.
