is the center for female founders at Ruhr University Bochum. We inspire female students and early-career researchers to pursue their own startup ideas and engage with entrepreneurship. FACE@RUB is part of the Worldfactory Start-up Center, recognized in 2019 as an “Excellence Start-up Center.NRW.”

FACE@RUB has once again secured funding from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action through the EXIST-Women program. FACE@RUB will be supported by a substantial grant and promising candidates are already applying for support through FACE@RUB. Over the next months, aspiring female founders shall be supported on their journey to entrepreneurial independence.

Supporting Female Founders

With a dedicated program for women in start-ups, RUB intends to combat women’s remaining underrepresentation in founding activities, especially in tech and digital sectors. In 2022, only 20.3% of startup founders were women, and growth is slow. In social entrepreneurship, however, women already make up 49.7%. With FACE@RUB, we aim to support more women in launching their businesses and overcoming barriers.

“We see tremendous potential in our participants,” says Janwillem Huda, project coordinator and startup coach at FACE. “The demand for early-stage support is high, and this funding allows us to continue strengthening female entrepreneurship at Ruhr University Bochum.”
